Due to some security enhancements the DHTLM Editing Controls is no longer included in Windows Vista.
I don´t care about that control(or Vista) do you think? Well, if you or your customers work with OWA you will. Without that patch OWA will be pretty useless using Windows Vista, because you can´t compose any new e-mails. (see attached picture)
I am facing the fact that many customers did not roll out the fix yet.
Maybe because they did not hear of it, or they think:"hmm, we are not using Windows Vista, so we do not need that patch". But this is a misconception. Just think about your customers and colleagues abroad for a second. ;-)
You can control your company notebooks, but you can´t control public terminals!
Microsoft has published a KB under 911829 to solve that issue ( http://support.microsoft.com/kb/911829/en-us )
Both, the FE and BE needs to be patched.
The whole process is pretty much straight forward. I planned and did the rollout in 2 Exchange environments without any problems.
